Homemade Thermomix Barbecue Sauce

By Heather Scarlett
Rich, smoky and slightly tangy, this homemade BBQ sauce is incredibly easy to make in the Thermomix. Everything goes straight into the mixing bowl, cooks together, then gets blended until beautifully smooth.
It’s great with burgers, sausages, grilled vegetables, pulled meats, wedges or anywhere you’d normally reach for a bottle of BBQ sauce.
Servings 1 Jar

Ingredients

  • 400 g can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 apple cored and halved
  • 40 g brown sugar
  • 50 g tomato paste

  • 40 g Worcestershire sauce
  • 40 g apple cider vinegar
  • 10 g balsamic vinegar
  • 10 g Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp mild paprika
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients into the Thermomix mixing bowl.
  • Cook 30 min/100°C/speed 2.

Tips

The original recipe used 60 g brown sugar and 50 g molasses. I found it quite sweet, so I have reduced both in this version. If you prefer a sweeter BBQ sauce, simply increase to suit your taste.
The flavour will develop further once the sauce has cooled.
For a thicker sauce, cook it longer before blending.
