High-Protein Nut Butter

This easy High-Protein Homemade Nut Butter takes regular homemade nut butter and gives it an extra protein boost with the addition of unflavoured whey protein.
Nuts naturally provide protein, healthy fats and fibre, while whey protein adds a high-quality complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids.
With no added sugar and just three ingredients, this is a simple way to add a little more protein to breakfast or snacks.
Servings 1 Jar

Ingredients

  • 250 g roasted nuts of your choice
  • 30 g unflavoured whey protein powder
  • Pinch of salt to taste

Instructions

  • Place the roasted nuts, whey protein powder and salt into the Thermomix mixing bowl.
  • Blend 30 sec / speed 8.
  • Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl.
  • Blend for a further 1 min / speed 4, scraping down again if necessary, until the nuts release their natural oils and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  • Transfer to a clean jar.
  • That's it!

Notes

Approximate nutrition per 30 g: 165–180 kcal | 8–10 g protein | 1.5–3 g fibre.
Nutrition will vary depending on the nuts and whey protein powder used.
Tip: Different nuts contain different amounts of natural oil, so the finished consistency may vary. If needed, continue blending a little longer until your nut butter reaches the consistency you like.
